Yes. Assured Shorthold Tenancy agreements can be signed electronically under the Electronic Communications Act 2000. E-signed ASTs are legally binding provided all required prescribed information is included and tenant consent to electronic communication is obtained.
An AST should include: parties' names, property address, term, rent, payment date, deposit amount and scheme, landlord's name and address (or agent), and prescribed information notice. Since 2015, landlords must also serve the How to Rent guide.
Yes. Landlords must serve the How to Rent guide at the start of each tenancy. Include the current edition as a document attachment in Zignature, with tenant acknowledgement of receipt as part of the signing flow.
