SMS Consent & Opt-In

How We Collect SMS Consent

Zignature sends transactional text messages only when a business uses our platform to request a document signature from a recipient. This page explains exactly how consent is obtained.

Step 1 — Business Confirms Recipient Consent

When a Zignature account holder sends a document for signing and enables SMS notification, they are shown the following consent statement and must acknowledge it before the message is dispatched.

Send Document — Recipient Details

Jane Smith
jane@example.com
+1 (555) 000-0000

Send SMS Notification

By enabling SMS, I confirm that the recipient has provided explicit consent to receive a text message from my business via Zignature containing a link to review and sign this document. The recipient may reply STOP to opt out at any time. Message and data rates may apply.

▲ The sender must actively check this box to confirm prior consent before the SMS is dispatched. It is never pre-selected.

Step 2 — Recipient Provides Their Phone Number

When a document requires the signer to supply their own phone number (for 2FA verification or notification purposes), the signing start form displays the following explicit consent disclosure directly adjacent to the phone field.

Sign Document — Identify Yourself

Jane Smith

By providing your phone number you agree to receive a one-time SMS from [Business Name] via Zignature with a link to review and sign this document. Reply STOP to opt out. Message and data rates may apply.

Step 3 — The SMS Message Sent

After consent is established, the recipient receives a single transactional SMS. The message always identifies the requesting business, provides a direct signing link, and includes opt-out instructions.
